Mouths

I am so happy to finally post this project (with the help of the magical Mr. Johnston). I made each of these bowls in their entirety- baby bowl, middle aged man bowl, and old fart bowl. I had a blast, and it was refreshing to break free of the 2D leash.

For a closer look click HERE to have a look at my portfolio site.

Feliz Cumpleanos!

Here is my submission for Hallmark's recent contest. Despite my lack of latina flare, I did my best to come up with a little somethin'. Hey, who doesn't like pinatas? Or sombreros? Or pinatas wearing sombreros?

30 Heads in 30 Days

George Pratt has his junior illustrators tackle a giant project first semester- create 30 12" x 12" portraits, each a different person, and each a different medium or combination of mediums. All in 30 days. Here is a snapshot of what I came up with, along with a few of my favorites.

Almost all of them are for sale or trade, contact me if you are interested!

Making stuff not boring.

One of my favorite things about being able to paint and draw is the ability to customize the things I use. Stuff is boring sometimes, so why no make it your own? Feathers are great, among the tremendous variety there is a gold mine of crazy textures.

This is my "planner" [I have yet to not find a name that is not somewhat lame. Suggestions?]. If you are looking to improve your organization, start with one of these bad boys. I know I would be running into walls without mine.

Also, here is a drawing I did this past week based on my friend Eileen. She be reclinin' and I love that she wears a jacket with fur on it in Florida. Represent.

Friday the 13th

Today I had Literature and Media Studies, my first class ever with Jessica. Our teacher is crazy and hilarious, here is my rendition of him.

We both had some coffee, and got antsy in addition to the class dragging on a bit, so we collaborated on the above image and pinned it to the classroom wall. It was a ton of fun, we will be posting more in the future.

It's Friday the 13th, and to celebrate I am going to celebrate by watching the Blair Witch Project for the first time ever. Whee hoo.

Goodnight Noises Everywhere.

This image is based on Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown, one of my favorite children's books. A lot of contemplation goes on when I am laying in bed before I go to sleep, and it has been that way my whole life. The subjects that occupy my mind change depending on what stage of my life I am in, but the thoughts have been there regardless of my age. I am a strong believer in both the importance of time alone and the transformative powers that the night is capable of, and this picture was my attempt at capturing some aspect of that. Enjoy! And if you haven't read this book...go! Do it now!

yu yu

Here is a little doodie I did for a scholarship contest. Submissions are due Saturday, check it out HERE if you are interested too! I tried to keep it simple, and bring hand drawn elements to a company that typically has more rigid design. Wish me luck!

Doodie

Here is the Asian man who scrubbed all the dead skin off my feet and painted my toes. I think he judged me.

More Colorado inspired sketching.

My Dad-o's office and a poinsettia in Caleb's dentist's office. Offices.

Old airport man. And I dream I had.

Crazy funny ladies with crazy hands.

Training. So much training.

AND MORE TRAINING.

Well folks, I am back in Florida again and gearing up to work my patoot off. Yes, I said patoot instead of patootie. It sounds more forceful. My heart is a little heavy, if you get a second send me some good vibes. Thanks for lookin' ;)

Murphdawg

Remember that dog sketch I posted awhile ago? Here it is in its completed glory. This is my neighbors' dog, Murphy. What a sweet sweet puppy, it was tragic to be home over break and not have Murphy around. Done in watercolor pencils, charcoal pencil, and gouache on illustration board.
