Defeated

My most recent Ill assignment was to illustrate an emotion of our choice through two images: the first being an environment without any figures or animals, and the second being a figure in an environment. The emotion I chose was defeated. Hence we have a sickly looking dude in a desert-esque place, and a still life of a dead bouquet of flowers. Defeated? Maybe.

Both images were done first as a base gouache painting, with acrylic and graphite as the successive layers.
